Senior Product Manager, Developer Platform

Remote

Company Overview

ZBD powers real economies in virtual worlds by enabling game studios, creators, and platforms to embed seamless payments and virtual currencies into their experiences. Whether players are purchasing in-game currency, creators are monetizing their communities, or developers are building new types of digital commerce, ZBD provides the infrastructure to make it happen.

ZBD is a fully remote company. We hire, retain, and develop the best talent from around the world, wherever s/he/they may choose to live. As a result, every member of the ZBD team must demonstrate an ability to work independently and thrive in a remote environment.

Job Overview

We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to own ZBD’s Developer Platform — the external interface between our financial infrastructure and the developers who build on top of it.

You will be responsible for our external-facing APIs, SDKs, authentication systems, webhooks, sandbox environments, and core developer tooling. Your mandate is to ensure developers can integrate payments and rewards into their games quickly, reliably, and with minimal friction.

This is a pivotal moment. You’ll be building significant new platform capabilities on top of our core infrastructure, with substantial opportunity to shape the developer experience and platform architecture over the coming months. You’ll translate complex payment and compliance systems into elegant developer-facing abstractions, establishing patterns and standards that will scale with our ecosystem.

This role works in close partnership with:
  • Our Head of Developer Experience (DevX), who focuses on developer enablement, tooling, and ecosystem growth
  • Payments and Compliance Product Managers, who own underlying financial and regulatory capabilities
  • Engineering leadership across platform and payments squads
You’ll align deeply across teams while maintaining clear ownership of the external platform surface.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the vision, roadmap, and execution for ZBD’s developer-facing platform surfaces (APIs, SDKs, auth, webhooks, sandbox).
  • Define and evolve REST APIs and SDKs used across mobile, PC, console, and web, with particular attention to gaming-specific integration patterns and requirements.
  • Establish API lifecycle management practices including versioning, backward compatibility, deprecation strategy, and reliability targets.
  • Partner closely with the Head of DevX to ensure documentation, onboarding flows, dashboards, and tooling reflect best-in-class developer standards. Write documentation yourself when it’s the fastest path to clarity.
  • Collaborate with Payments and Compliance PMs to translate complex financial flows (authorization, settlement, reconciliation, KYC, payouts, wallet balances) into intuitive, compliant developer primitives that work within regulatory constraints.
  • Work deeply with engineering on API contracts (OpenAPI), authentication models, idempotency, event-driven architecture, and SDK design across platforms including Unity, Unreal, and native mobile/console environments.
  • Engage directly with game developers and partners throughout the sales and onboarding cycle. Join prospect conversations to understand how developers are building their in-game economies, gather real-time feedback on API design decisions, and identify integration friction points before they become blockers.
  • Run pilot programs with early partners, collecting structured feedback and iterating rapidly based on real-world integration experiences.
  • Define and track platform health metrics including adoption, activation, time-to-first-transaction, integration success rate, API reliability, and revenue impact.
  • Roll up your sleeves regularly, whether that’s reviewing OpenAPI specs, debugging integration issues with partners, refining SDK interfaces, or troubleshooting authentication flows.
  • Navigate complex stakeholder landscapes, building consensus across engineering, compliance, legal, sales, and fellow PMs while maintaining momentum on platform deliverables.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

  • 6+ years of product management experience, with significant ownership of external, developer-facing APIs, SDKs, or platforms used by third-party developers.
  • Deep experience defining API contracts (OpenAPI/Swagger), authentication systems (OAuth, API keys), idempotency models, and webhooks.
  • Direct experience building or scaling high-volume transaction systems in fintech, payments, or financial infrastructure environments.
  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements for financial products (money transmission, KYC/AML, or similar frameworks).
  • Experience collaborating across multiple PMs in a pod or platform structure, with proven ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Strong technical fluency and the ability to partner credibly with senior engineers on architecture and implementation decisions.
  • Comfort engaging directly with customers and prospects. You can hold your own in technical conversations with developers, translate their feedback into product requirements, and adapt your approach based on what you learn.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance technical excellence with commercial outcomes and regulatory constraints.
  • Passion for developer experience. You believe documentation and tooling are product surfaces, not afterthoughts.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and building new capabilities in fast-moving, regulated environments.

Nice to Haves

  • You’ve integrated payment or monetization systems directly into games, or deeply understand in-game economy design.
  • You’ve built or maintained SDKs used by third-party developers at scale, particularly for gaming platforms (Unity, Unreal, native mobile, or console).
  • You’ve worked with gaming-specific payment flows such as microtransactions, reward systems, or real-money gaming considerations.
  • You have experience with Bitcoin, Lightning Network, or cryptocurrency payment systems.
  • You’ve owned API reliability targets, SLAs, or uptime metrics for production systems.
  • You’ve navigated console certification processes or worked within platform-specific constraints (Apple, Google, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo).
  • You’ve worked in regulated industries and understand how to ship quickly while maintaining compliance guardrails.
