Chief Technology Officer

Job Overview

We are seeking a top-tier CTO who will bring extensive experience to Fedi. As CTO, you will not only oversee the technical direction of our product but also elevate our already strong engineering team to new heights. You will drive innovation, solve complex technical challenges, and shape the future of our tech infrastructure from its stable existing state.

Responsibilities

• Lead the overall technology strategy, driving technical innovation and delivering high-impact solutions in a fast-moving environment.
• Design and build a high-performance engineering team by identifying, recruiting, and nurturing top talent.
• Collaborate with the CEO and leadership team to shape and execute the company’s long-term vision and business objectives.
• Manage engineering resources, budgeting, and project prioritization to drive efficient delivery of the company’s roadmap.
• Help steer Fedi’s committed transition to a fully open source app.
• Oversee all technical operations, including infrastructure, software development, and security, ensuring a high level of system reliability and scalability.
• Architect and oversee robust security strategies that ensure the protection and scalability of our product and infrastructure.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a CTO or senior technology leader in a high-growth startup or scale-up.
• Deep understanding of Bitcoin, cryptography, distributed systems, cross-compilation, mobile development, rust, and react/react-native is highly desirable.
• Strong track record of mentoring and developing engineering leaders, with a focus on empowering others to lead and solve technical challenges autonomously.
• Expertise in designing secure, scalable software architectures, including experience in managing cloud infrastructure.
• Ability to think strategically and align technology initiatives with business goals.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively across departments.
• Demonstrated success in building and scaling engineering teams, processes, and cultures from the ground up.
• Willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate global teams and stakeholders across LATAM/US and Africa/Europe.
• Proven track record of successfully shipping products from concept to production, with a focus on delivering high-quality, secure, and scalable solutions in fast-paced environments.
