Job Overview
We’re seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with stakeholders to deliver robust, high-quality features and help us enhance our software’s performance and reliability. You’ll play a key role in our engineering team, from refining processes to ensuring code quality, while also mentoring other engineers.
Responsibilities
- Partner with stakeholders to understand project requirements and priorities.
- Design and implement high-quality, well-tested features.
- Build and maintain robust APIs and data ingestion pipelines.
- Apply best practices in unit and automated testing to ensure reliability.
- Review code and provide constructive feedback to fellow engineers.
- Develop and maintain scalable testing, monitoring, and infrastructure systems.
- Boost operational efficiency through automation and process improvements.
- Identify and resolve complex technical issues.
Requirements
- 5-10 years of experience in software engineering.
- Strong foundation in web applications and relational databases.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating across teams.
- Experience delivering user-facing features.
Nice to Haves
- Hands-on experience with Rust, particularly with actix_web.
- Knowledge of distributed systems.
- Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
- Experience in payments or energy.

Compensation
- Salary: $150-180k per year.
- Equity Options: Anticipated range of 1-3% based on experience and contributions.
Role Details
This position is initially offered as a 3-month contract hire, without benefits or equity options, with the potential to transition to a full-time role upon successful completion of the contract period. At that time, the full-time position will include a comprehensive benefits package and eligibility for equity options.
Synota is open to hiring internationally for this role. However, international hires are not eligible to receive health benefits or equity options.
