Head of Communication
Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Communications to join our executive team. The Head of Communications will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy that enhances the organization’s brand, ensures consistent messaging across all channels, and supports business objectives. This is a key leadership position that requires strategic thinking, creativity, and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at the highest levels.
Responsibilities
Strategic Communication Planning
- Develop, implement, and manage a holistic corporate communications strategy aligned with the company’s business goals.
- Ensure clear, consistent, and effective messaging across all platforms, including internal and external communications.
- Lead crisis communication efforts, crafting rapid and clear responses to manage reputation.
Executive Communication
- Provide communications support to the executive team, including speech writing, media appearances, and internal memos.
- Advise executives on media engagement, interviews, and public speaking opportunities.
- Prepare executives for high-level communication initiatives, including presentations to stakeholders, investors, and at industry events.
Media Relations
- Establish and nurture relationships with key media outlets and journalists.
- Manage the company’s media spokesperson responsibility through designated staff.
- Oversee the development of press releases, media kits, and other communication materials.
Internal Communications
- Design and execute internal communication programs to align employees with the company’s mission, values, and strategic goals.
- Manage executive-level internal communications to ensure transparency and foster a positive organizational culture.
- Lead initiatives to enhance communication across teams and departments.
Brand Management
- Ensure the company’s brand voice and messaging are consistent across all communications channels.
- Oversee the management and development of content for websites, social media, newsletters, and other digital platforms.
- Collaborate with marketing and branding teams to ensure aligned messaging.
Crisis and Issue Management
- Lead the organization’s crisis communications strategy, ensuring preparedness for potential reputational risks.
- Act as the point person for managing communications during crises or sensitive situations.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with key stakeholders, including Fintech, humanitarian, and human rights defenders’ associations, among others, to promote the company’s interests.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with investors, partners, and the broader community.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the communications team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
- Manage external communication agencies and partners, ensuring effective outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or a related role, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position.
- Proven experience developing and executing successful communication strategies in a fast-paced, complex environment.
- Strong media relations experience and a well-established network of contacts in the industry.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills in English with bonus point if you’re able to do the same in other languages.
- Strong experience in speechwriting and executive communication.
- Strong track record of building a significant online following for a company who act as active supporters of the company.
- Demonstrated ability to lead crisis communications and manage high-stakes situations.
- Experience in leading internal communications initiatives and fostering employee engagement.
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing high-performing teams.
- Ability to influence and engage with senior-level executives and key external stakeholders.
- A strategic thinker with a keen eye for detail and a creative approach to problem-solving.
